Testing the technologies [ Return towards  Air Liquide and hydrogen  ]

Air Liquide coordinates various demonstration programs with the goal of testing the technologies in a “real-life situations” and of familiarizing the public with this new energy source.

Small hydrogen vehicles will be very useful in cities where they will contribute to limit noise and pollution. With this in mind, Air Liquide launched the Hychain-Minitrans project involving the development of fleets of small urban vehicles supplied with electricity by hydrogen-powered ful cell. The project should allow users to test these vehicles in a real-life situations in four regions of the European Union (France, Italy, Spain and Germany).

To supply these small vehicles with hydrogen, the Hychain-Minitrans project uses an innovative logistics system allowing users to exchange small ergonomic and reliable cylinders based on technologies developed and patented by Air Liquide.

AXANE, an Air Liquide subsidiary, is also coordinating the Balises project which enables the supply of electricity to mobile telephony antenna relay stations, either on isolated sites or in places where it is difficult to connect to the power network. At certain relay stations, the electricity supply is provided by photovoltaic panels during the day and a fuel cell that takes over at night.
